Structural Engineer — 0–2 Years Experience

Grummel Engineering LLC is looking for a motivated and curious Structural Engineer with 0–2 years of experience to join our team in Downtown Portland.

We’re a small, collaborative structural engineering firm where early-career engineers have the opportunity to learn by participating in all phases of projects. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers and gain exposure to the full project lifecycle: from early conversations with clients and architects through design, permitting, site visits, and construction.

We’re looking for someone who is excited to build a strong technical foundation, develop practical engineering judgment, and grow into increasing responsibility over time while benefiting from a culture of strong mentorship.

What You’ll Do

As an early-career member of our team, you’ll work closely with experienced engineers while contributing to projects throughout the design and construction process.

· Prepare and develop schematic, permit, and construction documents

· Participate in site visits, field investigations, and construction support

· Work with architects, contractors, developers, artists, and homeowners

· Collaborate with and learn from experienced engineers

As your skills and experience develop, you’ll have opportunities to take on greater responsibility and ownership of your work.

Our Projects

Recent and ongoing work includes seismic retrofits of historic structures, wineries, breweries, residences, retail spaces, and public art, using a variety of structural systems and materials.

We work closely with architects, artists, developers, contractors, homeowners, and other project partners. This variety provides opportunities to learn not only how structures are designed, but also how good engineering fits into the larger goals of a project.
